Week Seven: Workshop Week #1
Providing Workshop Feedback
|
No doubt many of you are familiar with writing workshops from composition and creative writing classes of the past. The overall goal of these workshops is to help your peers hear your experiences as a reader of their writing to help your peers understand your experience with their work.
As you provide feedback on the margins of the documents you are reading, focus those comments on helping your peers develop the elements we have reviewed in the class so far:
In the marginal comments and in the Google Hangouts, you should be prepared not only to tell your peers WHERE their writing is effective or ineffective but also WHY and HOW it is so. For example, if a scene is particularly well-paced, why is it so? Is it because the details slow down the speed of the narrative to slow motion to imitate the passing of time? Is the fast-motion movement from detail to detail a struggle as you try to move from place to place and time to time in a single paragraph? |
How will the Google Hangouts work?
